it needs to be done with very care. oh, not sure why that came up so, back to backup tools, here's a question. there are many, and some are better than others. i'm most familiar with afbackup and there's a tool that i can find in the toolbox that is called 'connectbackup'. what is that? what is its purpose? afbackup is pretty nice, but i found some shortcomings. to start with, afbackup has a nice gui. unfortunately, it has some sort of bug where it will close the gui and start listening on a port, even though the ui is in the background. i'm not sure if this is a known issue. noimnotninevolt, i think that tool is a fork of AIDE, which is an older tool hm. i looked at aide, but it seemed a bit old. for backup/restore, clonezilla is the only tool i know of noimnotninevolt, it is on github, and seems to work fine oerheks: cool. noimnotninevolt: clonezilla has options to make a bootable clone partedmagic is another tool for cloning ( and a live iso) i'm going to experiment with this. ducasse: that's pretty cool. hm. i thought it was the other way around. you can use partimage for restoring from a cloned disk, there are also other tools
